About Me
My name is Michelle Blunk. A few years ago, one of my best friends from college introduced me to
the art of beaded jewelry making. We are both Interior Designers by education
and career and have that creative, stylish flair. She took me to my
first bead store and I spent $100 on something that was foreign to me. She taught
me the basics and the rest fell into place. Before I knew it, I had created
more jewelry than I could ever wear in a lifetime. Friends, co-workers and
even strangers began complimenting me on my jewelry and asking where I had
purchased it. Of course, I was more than willing to mention that I had made it
myself, and soon I had a small, yet loyal following. I would get phone calls
weekly asking if I had a catalog or website. Because I didn't have either, I
would offer to bring my jewelry to their homes or invite them to my home. As
much as I loved the interest, these offers had me running all over town. At
the time I was a full time commercial interior designer, had a husband, 2 children
and one on the way.
My husband and I sat down to discuss whether this could
actually turn into something successful. He suggested selling my jewelry at "in
home" parties. I contacted a couple of my clients for their feedback and
right away, I had three shows scheduled for three very enthusiastic clients.
Since then, I've given birth to our third child, continued
my interior design on a part time basis and fit in 3-4 in home jewelry
shows a month. I feel like I've met so many fun, interesting and creative
people through the shows, but think there are so many others out there
that haven't gotten a chance to see my work.
This is where the website comes in. Please look around,
email me or call me. If you have comments, suggestions, are looking for
something you can't find on here, let me know. I'd love to meet you!
